Schwabenkopf

The head of Swabia from Verpeiltal

The Schwaben head is a 3,379 meter high mountain in the Kaunergrat in the Ötztal Alps, which aborts the Verpeiltal with a powerful, 1000 m high slope.

The first ascent of the summit was made in 1892 by Theodor Petersen with the Kaunertal mountain guides Praxmarer J. and J. Penz. In the vicinity are the Verpeilhütte and Kaunergrat.

The name is probably related to the children of the Kauner and Pitz Valley in conjunction, which were previously awarded each summer as agricultural assistants to Swabia.
