Schwartzkopffstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)

Metro Station Schwartzkopffstraße is a station of the Berlin U -Bahn line 6 in the district center. He is 4.30 meters below the road, crossroads Schwartzkopffstraße. Construction began in 1913/1914 and was set during the First World War. Following the resumption of work 1919, the station was opened on 8 March 1923. From 13 August 1961 to 1 July 1990 he was a so-called " ghost station " - the subway through him and held in East Berlin just at the Friedrichstrasse station. In 1993, the station was rebuilt and back built and since then has been a historical monument.

Curiosities

The renaming of the station on 15 March 1973 by Walter Ulbricht Stadium in Stadium of World Youth took place at a time when the stadium was not yet re-opened under its new name ( until 28 July 1973) and beyond the station for years and even up to its reopening in 1990 for passengers shall not have been accessible.
