Scott Tixier

Scott Tixier ( born February 26, 1986 in Montreuil (Seine- Saint- Denis ) ) is a French violinist and composer of modern jazz.

Career

Tixier grew up in Paris. He studied in Montreuil and at the Paris Conservatory as a classical violinist; his interest in jazz was awakened by the music of Joe Henderson and John Coltrane.

He has worked among others with Anthony Braxton, Zedd, Dave Douglas, Maceo Parker, Lonnie Plaxico, Siegfried Kessler and Sting.

His twin brother Tony Tixier is a pianist.

Prizes and awards

In 2013 he was honored as a Rising Star Violin Kritikerpoll in Downbeat magazine. In the previous year he was nominated here. In addition, he was nominated in 2013 as Best New Artist in Kritikerpoll the Jazz Times. The album Brooklyn Bazaar was listed in the Jazz Times Magazine Critics Top 50 CDs of 2012 and selected on National Public Radio as Song of the Day and broadcast internationally. 2007, the first prize of the Trophée du Sunside was forgiven in Paris.
