Scratch the Surface

Scratch the Surface is the third studio album by the American hardcore band Sick of It All. It was published in October 1994 at East West.

Formation and style

After the moderate success of Just Look Around, the band was able to sign a major label contract with East West. The label decided to leave the band produce their third studio album itself. The album contained both fast songs like Insurrection, as well as live classics like No Cure. On the part of the label was trying without much success, the band - to position the piece step down as the next great punk band - at times of the rise of Green Day and The Offspring. On the tour to Scratch the Surface Sick of It All took the then unknown band Korn with - which is also thereby quickly gained notoriety.

Reception

The album was nevertheless the first of the band, which was reached in Germany with space 67 is a chart position. John Franck wrote in Allmusic, the album was intended for greater attention, however, never came. He missed three out of five stars.
