Sebamed is the brand name of the Sebapharma GmbH & Co. KG produced medical skin and body care products. The headquarters of Sebapharma is located in Boppard local district of Bad salty. Heinz Maurer invented in the 1950s soap-free cleansers and founded the company in 1983 to market these hygiene products.

History

The doctor Heinz Maurer ( born October 11, 1921), later the founder of the Sebapharma, worked in 1952 as a medical assistant in the dermatology department of the University Hospital Bonn. The patients suffering from eczema, were not allowed to wash, because it is destroyed by conventional Kernseife the acid mantle and thus the healing of the skin. Maurer, who had created in his spare time in the company of his brother, a soap-free cleansing emulsion that had the same pH as human skin, this testing to the patient. The forbidden experiment was successful, but lost the ward doctor, had been supported by the Masons, his job.

From 1968 sebamed known by medical marketing to dermatologists, pharmacists, druggists and consumers in Germany and from 1971 also exported. In 1983, Maurer founded the Sebapharma GmbH & Co. KG. Heinz Maurer was awarded in 2010 the Order of Merit of the State of Rhineland -Palatinate for his entrepreneurial, social and cultural involvement. In 2012 Sebapharma had approximately 200 employees.
