Sebedražie

Sebedražie ( Seven Andreas German, Hungarian Szebed - to 1907 Szebedrázs ) is a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1716 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Prievidza, part of the Trenčín Region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the middle of the valley Hornonitrianska kotlina at the foot of the mountain bird ( Vtáčnik ). Through the town of Bach Cigľanka, the downstream flows further into the Handlovka flows, just before the confluence with the Nitra. The center is located five kilometers from Prievidza.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1245 as Scepredas writing.

Traditionally, agriculture was the main occupation, nowadays the majority working in the lignite mine Cigeľ (since 1962 ) east of the town or in the city Prievidza.
