Sebewaing is a village ( with a status of "Village" ) in Huron County in the U.S. state of Michigan.

Geography

Sebewaing is located 60 kilometers north of Saginaw and is located on the eastern shore of Saginaw Bay, part of Lake Huron.

History

The missionary J.J.F. Also, who wanted to convert the native population to Christianity, is regarded as the founder of the city, which at first was called the " Also Ville " and 1857 " Sebewaing " 1845. This name comes from the Algonquian language of the Chippewaindianer and means "little Crooked River " ( Little Crooked River).
