Sedliská

Sedliská (Hungarian Telekháza - to 1902 Szedliszke ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the middle reaches of the Sedliská Ondava that here from the Ondauer Bergland ( Ondavská Highlands ) enters the East Slovak Lowland. The city Vranov nad Topľou is six kilometers away from Sedliská.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1323. The Roman Catholic church dates from the year 1997, a predecessor built back in the 19th century. The Greek-Catholic Church of 1784. 1882 of lying northeast part of municipality was Podčičva (Hungarian Csicsvaalja ), until then a part of Sačurov incorporated.

Attractions

On a rocky mountain spur above the right bank of Ondava rises sharply the ruins of the Gothic castle Čičava, which was built in the early 14th century.

East and west of Ondavabrücke near Sedliská hit the highways 554 ( Havaj - Oborín ), 557 ( Sedliská - Stropkov ) and 558 ( Vranov nad Topľou - Humenné ) together.

Statistics

The population Sedliskás consists almost exclusively of Slovaks. 66 % of the population are Roman Catholics, 30 % gave as a confession of Greek- Catholic.
