Sedus

The Sedus Stoll AG, headquartered in Waldshut- Tiengen, Baden- Württemberg, is a complete provider of office equipment and workplace concepts. The company manufactures in Dogern and in Geseke. With eight European subsidiaries in France ( Paris ), Italy ( Cadorago ), Spain ( Madrid), Austria (Vienna), United Kingdom ( London), the Netherlands ( Zoetermeer ), Belgium ( Wetteren ) and Switzerland ( Rickenbach ) belongs Sedus to the major office furniture manufacturers in Europe. The worldwide distribution in over 50 countries is implemented by partner companies.

Company History

The company was founded in 1871 by Albert Stoll led on his descendants, from 1958 several companies have emerged, including the manufacturer of chairs with the brand name SEDUS. This company has been run by Christof Stoll. Christof and Emma Stoll Stoll VITA Foundation, founded in 1985, a non-profit foundation for the promotion of healthy eating and the environment and transferred the ownership of the company.

1995 Sedus was converted into a public limited company. In the following years, the company completed several start-ups and acquisitions, becoming a complete supplier: 1999 Sedus acquired the majority shareholding in the office furniture manufacturer Klöber GmbH (focus on office furniture ), headquartered in Owingen. 2002 Gesika Büromöbelwerk GmbH ( emphasis Contract furniture ) purchased in Geseke, whose name was changed to Sedus Systems GmbH in the course of a brand reunification in 2008.

Since the establishment Sedus develops innovations in the field of ergonomics. 1925, the first European suspension and tilting swivel chair " spring pivot " was designed and developed in 1973 with the Similar dynamic seat principle.

Since 1996 Sedus actively participates in international design competitions and was here to win numerous awards, including the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Product Design Award.

Ecology

Sedus practiced preservation of the environment for over 50 years through the conservation of resources, the use of environmentally responsible materials and holistic approach to development to production to packaging and logistics. Europe was the first company in the industry Sedus has introduced in 1995 an environmental management and audit system according to the requirements of the Eco Management and Audit Scheme of the European Union ( EMAS). High-bay warehouse

In 2002, the high-bay warehouse was expanded on Dogern and redesigned by the architects Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton. The cubic building with its facade, which consists of 16,000 metal panels in different colors in size 25 by 160 centimeters, has now become a landmark and a distinctive mark of the company.

Sedus development and innovation center

The end of 2011 the new development and innovation center in Dogern was completed on the Upper Rhine, which was planned and implemented by the Berlin architect Ludloff Ludloff. There, the strategic product development takes place.
