Geography

Geographical Location

The greater part of seltzer community area with the districts Niederselters, Eisenbach, Münster and Haintchen is in the range of the eastern Hintertaunus north of the Taunus mountains main ridge, in 170-500 meters altitude. Geographically one of the main town Niederselters still to the southeast part of the Limburg Basin and thus has connection to the Lahn valley landscape. The opening out here from the south into the basin grave breach of Idsteiner sink is draining along the river Lahn Emsbaches with the popular name Goldener Grund occupied, which refers to the favorable climate and fertile soil ( loam ). The northern part of the municipality for the location Münster belongs to the Lahn geological depression, which is known for its richness in natural resources from the Middle Devonian. Of particular importance here was the iron ore mining.

Neighboring communities

Seltzer is bordered to the north by the municipalities Villmar and Weilmunster (both Limburg- Weilburg ), to the east by the municipality Weilrod ( Hoch-Taunus Kreis), in the south on the town of Bad Camberg, in the southwest on the community Hünfelden, and in the west on the community of breaking (all three in Limburg- Weilburg ).

History

The community seltzer was established on July 1, 1974 through the merger of four previously independent municipalities within the framework of municipal reform in Hesse.

Seltzer water

In the district Niederselters is a fruitful Mineral Wells, who gave his name to the seltzer water. The seltzer source was first mentioned in 772. In 1581, the city dedicated doctor of Worms, Jacob Theodor Tabernaemontanus, the low seltzer Sauerbrunnen ten pages in his fountain Chronicle Neuw water treasure, thus laying the foundation for the fame of the fountain. It soon developed into a modest Kurbetrieb.

In addition to the rather insignificant drinking treatment plant Kurtrier a rapidly expanding water delivery in stone jugs from the Kannenbäckerland to Scandinavia, Russia, North America, Africa and even how it is occupied for the year 1791, up to Batavia in the Dutch East Indies. The vessels impressed toponym seltzer then also created soon the name seltzer water as a brand name for mineral water of world renown. The Duchy of Nassau took over in 1803 Niederselters as a welcome source of income and built the export business. After the annexation of Nassau by Prussia in 1866, the water was even Royal seltzer and after the end of the monarchy as the state source Niederselters. The state of Hesse as the legal successor of Prussia sold the source 1970. Thereafter, the owners changed faster and faster. 1999 bottling at the well in Niederselters was adjusted. Since 2001, the municipality of seltzer is owned by the source.

On 26 June 2011, the restored soda fountain mineral consisting of the historic fountain Temple, the seltzer Museum, the house drink plant, the park, the event rooms and the nursery inaugurated. The mineral water is part of the overall concept Geopark Westerwald- Lahn- Taunus.

Municipal council

In the local elections on 27 March 2011 Letter ballots were burned in three of the four districts accidentally that were not counted. Thus, a re-run election was necessary on August 21, 2011. The election yielded the following results:

Mayoral election

In the mayoral election on February 21, 2010 Bernd Hartmann (independent) to the Mayor of seltzer (Taunus ) was chosen. He sat down with 61.9 percent against the competitors by Rüdiger Weil ( 38.1 percent). On 1 August 2010 he released after 24 years from the CDU predecessor Dr. Norbert Zabel. Zabel was with 24 years in office the longest-serving mayor in Limburg- Weilburg.

The turnout for the mayoral election was 57.2 percent.

Traffic

Seltzer has developed into a popular residential community, as it is the Federal Highway 3 is well connected to the motorway network with the 5 km distant point Bad Camberg. Furthermore, runs through Niederselters the main road 8

The district Niederselters has a station on the Main -Lahn -Bahn. Nearest railway station is the Limburg Süd station.

Education

For the community seltzer the center school is Golden base in Niederselters. This has a basic, elementary and secondary school branch. Addition, a dedicated primary school for the district Haintchen. As a secondary school the Taunus school in Bad Camberg is visited. In addition, students from schools seltzer visit in Limburg.
