Å emnice

Šemnice ( German Schömitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten miles north-east of the city of Karlovy Vary ( Carlsbad).

Geography

Šemnice lies in the valley of the Eger right side of the river. South of the town rises the Doupov Mountains, which is a military training area Hradiště largely restricted area. Šemnice is protected in all directions through wooded hills.

History

The first mention of the village was 1239th After the local chronicle the village were established in 1203 is supposed to be, but this is not used excessively source.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Šemnice Dubina ( Eichenhof ) Pulovice ( Pullwitz ) Sedlečko ( Satteles ) and Šemnice ( Schömitz ). Basic settlement units are Dubina, Pulovice, Sedlečko, Šemnice and U mostu ( Egerbrück ). To Šemnice also includes the local documents Berani Dvůr ( Hammelhof ) and Muzikov.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Pulovice, Sedlečko u Karlových Var and Šemnice.

Attractions

Šemnická skala (641 m, Hermannstein ) south of the village. The first picture was taken around 1870 and shows in the background the fabled Herrmann stone. Behind the visible barrier is since 1979 a good fishing lake, which is used in the summer as the lake by the population. The second image shows the historic inn Hermann stone, however, no longer exists.
