Å enkvice

Šenkvice ( German [ Klein-/Groß- ] Schenk joke, Hungarian [ Kis-/Nagy- ] Senkőc - to 1907 [ Kis-/Nagy- ] Senkvic ) is a municipality in the district of Pezinok north of Bratislava in Slovakia. The municipality was created in 1964 by the merger of places Malé Čaníkovce and Veľké Čaníkovce ( to 1948 Slovak Malé Šenkvice and Veľké Šenkvice ). The place finds its first mention in 1256th

Location and General Description

The municipality is located in the expansive valley of the river Vah ( here: Danube hills ), on the railway line Bratislava - Žilina. Šenkvice situated almost at the foot of the Little Carpathian Mountains 25 km northeast of the city of Bratislava in Pezinok district. In addition Šenkvice located 6 km east of Pezinok. The municipality is located 160 m N.M. in the valley of the brook Sisek (pronounced Sisák ).

Sports

Since the 70s of the 20th century is located in Šenkvice a motor cross track. In addition Senkvice has a football team ( ŠK Senkvice ). In addition Šenkvice has a field hockey team.
