Worth seeing

Here in close proximity to Šentjernej is the only one in Slovenia still existing Charterhouse, Charterhouse Pleterje. founded in 1403 by Count Herman II of Celje. The damaged by the Turks raids monastery was then surrounded with a 3 m high wall. From 1595 to 1773 it was a Jesuit monastery; before 1899 bought the Carthusian church again in hand, it was privately owned.

Also close by is the picturesque castle Gracarjev turn and the open air museum. Traditions and crafts are shown in a 200 year-old farmhouse on the Šentjernej field.
