Serafimovich (town)

Serafimovitch (Russian Серафимович ) is a town in Volgograd Oblast in Russia. It lies on the right bank of the Don, 260 km north-west of the regional center of Volgograd, and has 9368 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

History

The village was founded in 1589 as a Cossack Cossack village. In 1933 he received the city status and its present name in honor of the writer Alexander Serafimovitch ( 1863-1949 ), who was born nearby.

Economy and Transport
