Serum response factor

The serum response factor (SRF ) is a protein that is genregulatorisch effective in vertebrates, i.e. switch genes on or off. About SRF signaling cascades induced, after this then affects the gene expression of its target genes. Among the target genes are mainly so-called immediate early genes ( IEGs ) that are expressed very quickly by SRF, as well as actin, a component of the cytoskeleton.

While SRF binds DNA as a homodimer always a CArG box of the regulatory region of the target gene.

SRF can also regulate genes with Ternärkomplexbildnern (for example, Elk -1).
