Seventh Angel

Seventh Angel is a thrash metal band from Netherton, West Midlands ( UK), which was founded in 1987.

History

Seventh Angel was founded in 1987 by Ian Arkley and Scott Rawson. In 1987, drummer Andrew Blount came to the band, but only played a few songs and was even replaced by Andy Hopkins in December of the same year. During this time, Stuart Benton held the post of the singer, but a short time was then later replaced by Ian Arkley.

In 1989 the band recorded their first demo called Seventh Angel and they began to play some gigs. At the beginning of the year the band received with Mark Ruff again a new drummer. On the demo Seventh Angel Arkley played the lead guitar, the bass and also sang all the songs. A few days later, Simon Bibby joined as the band's bassist and played with the band some gigs in the West Midlands. They played their first gig in May of 1989 in their hometown in Netherton. In August 1989 the band had their fifth appearance at the Greenbelt Festival. A short time later left the band and drummer Ruff Seventh Angel went on tour in the UK, including Ireland, with the U.S. band Whitecross. Colin Brookes was the drummer on this tour. After the tour, however, he left the band again and Andrew "Tank" Thompson replaced him. Also Rawson guitarist left the band for a short time, but this occurred after a short time at. In 1989 the band recorded their second demo, The Rehersal demo. During the recording Rawson left again for a few months the band. On December 27, he rejoined the band.

On January 25, 1990 Sevent Angel appeared on the British television station Channel 4 's appearance contained the song " Divine Takeover" and an interview with Brian Redhead. Later in the year had Bibby and Arkley in a traffic accident on 14 February, in which Arkley beat out some teeth and Bibby himself broke his arm. Nevertheless, they managed to complete their following live performances. Bibby, it was only possible to sing it. Between 12 and 14 March the band recorded their third demo called Heed the Warning. Recorded and mixed this was in the White Rabbit Studios under the direction of Paul Hodson in Bridgnorth. A short time later they recorded their first album, The Torment also under the direction of Paul Hodson in the Mad Hat Studios in Wolverhampton. Rodney Matthews designed the cover of this album. In the following months, the band played several concerts in Dudley and Stourbridge, and five performances at The Rock Tavern in Brierley Hill. In November, the band was headlining the Metal Meltdown.

This was the last appearance before Simon Bibby left the band in 1991. Simon Jones took over his position on bass and Seventh Angel continued to play concerts in Stourbridge and Horsham. From 21 March to 7 April, the band went through the UK with Toranaga on tour. On this tour, Earl Morris took over as bassist. From 4 to 16 July, the band recorded their second album, Lament for the Weary under the direction of Roy Rowland in the ICC Studios in Eastbourne on. In early August, this then mixed. On August 23, the band then played along with Galactic Cowboys on the Greenbelt Festival. After this performance drummer Thompson left the band. In October 1991, guitarist Rawson shortly after a gig in Croydon again the band. From 1 to 14 November, the band broke up briefly, but then joined back together to their first concert in Germany, more specifically on the Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal to play on 7 December. Jon Willis was played by the bass. In the following months, also Earl Morris and Nic White helped out on bass.

In February 1992, the appearance of the Greenbelt Festival at BBC was transferred. In the early months of 1992, the band played several gigs in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. On May 30, the band played in Utrecht, Netherlands. Mark Broomhead ( detritus ) played bass. After that, the band played again together with the band Veni Domine on the Greenbelt Festival. As a result, the band held a tour sowieo from 9 September to 12 October and from 12 October to 12 December by the Netherlands. On December 12, they played their last gig for the time being in Utrecht.

In 2005, The Torment and Lament for the Weary were re-released on Retroactive Records. Moreover, it was with Heed the Warning -Live ( Bomb Work Records ), a compilation of old demos and live recordings published.

In 2008, Seventh Angel joined together again. The albums The Torment and Lament for the Weary were re-released again. This time with Metal Mind Productions.

In the spring / summer of 2009 the band signed a contract with Bomb Work Records.Auftritte in the Netherlands and Norway followed. In March of the same year the album The Dust of Years was recorded at Priory Studios and published afterwards. Performances in Belgium and Switzerland followed.

Style

Seventh Angel are referred to as typical representatives of the White Metal, Metal bands in the treat christiliche themes in their lyrics. The band plays thrash metal that alternates between fast and slow sections.
