Sezar Akgül

Sezer Akgül (born 27 April 1988, in Amasya ) is a Turkish wrestler. He became in 2009 Vice World Champion in free style bantamweight

Career

Sezer Akgül began in 1999 as a teenager with the rings. To this end, he became a member of the sports club Seker Spor Kulübü Amasya. Throughout his career, he joined the Sports Club TEDAS Ankara and Istanbul Sports Club IBB. He wrestles exclusively in free style, and has been, or is trained by Yüksel Sanli, Cahit Ahrskalioglu, Ali Reza Kaser, Ismail Zurnacci and coach Adem Bereket. At a size of 1.55 meters, it starts bantamweight.

His first start in an international championship, he completed at the Junior European Championships in 2006 in Szombathely, where he finished in 11th place. Much better he cut off at the International Championships of 2007. This year he first started at the European Championship in Sofia, where she won equal an EM bronze medal. He lost it against Manfred Ewald from Germany and defeated in the battle for 3rd place Mariusz Walkowiak from Poland. Then he won a bronze medal, which he placed behind Opan satellite from Russia and Tim Schleicher in Germany, at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade. At the Junior World Cup 2007 in Beijing, he came to a semi-final victory over Tim Schleicher in the final, in which, however, he lost to Jamal Otarsultanow from Russia and thus Junior Vice World Champion. Finally he started even at the World Championships for seniors this year. He came here in Baku to victories over Gocha Kirkitadse from Georgia, Amiran Kartanow from Greece and Firas Al Ali Rifae from Syria, but was defeated by Naranbaatar Bayaraa from Mongolia and against Ryswan Hadschyjeu from Belarus and took a good 5th place.

In 2008 he won at the European Championships in Tampere again a bronze medal, which he won after a defeat against Ryswan Hadschyjeu by defeating Tim Schleicher. A little disappointing for him then was his performance at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul, for he came there bantamweight after a defeat in his third fight against the Mongols Damdinbazar Tsogtbaatar only on the 7th Place. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he was defeated in his first fight against Tomohiro Matsunaga of Japan, but then defeated Adama Diatta from Senegal and was defeated in his next fight against Dilshod Mansurov from Uzbekistan, which had the effect his departure. In the final account, he got away with it only on the 11th Place.

In 2009 he was winner at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara. After he had renounced the European Championships this year, he then succeeded at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark the biggest success of his career, because he was there with wins over Urs Wild, Switzerland, Namig Sewdimow, Azerbaijan, Kim Hyo -sub, South Korea and Viktor Lebedev, Russia and a defeat in the final battle against Yang Kyong -il of North Korea Vice World Champion.

In 2010, Sezer Akgül could not repeat the success of 2009. At the European Championships in Baku, he came bantamweight after a victory over Adrian Hajduk from Poland and a defeat against Andrei from Romania Dukow only on the 8th Place. Even weaker he cut off in the World Cup this year in Moscow. But it is unclear what place he finished there. In the database of the Institute for Applied Training Science in Leipzig, he is guided by a defeat in his first fight against Obenson Blanc from the United States in the 27th place. In the result the database of the Wrestling World Association Fila he is, however, classified in 12th place. So it remains to be addressed, what place he actually finished now. However, there is some evidence that the results of the Fila is wrong because there probably a confusion with Urs Wild from Switzerland exists and Sezer Akgül actually finished only 27th place.
