Shah Cheragh

Shah Cheragh or Shah -e Cheragh (DMG Šāh -e Cerag, " King of Light ") is the burial place of the brothers Amir Ahmad (d. 835) and Mir Muhammad Imam Reza, who had by the Abbasids followed in the city of Shiraz found refuge. The mausoleum is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites of the Shiites in Iran. It is located near the New Mosque.

The first building is assigned to the Sa ʿ d salghuridischen Atabeg I (reigned 1198-1226 ). During the reign of the Timurids in the 14th century, the art loving Queen Tashi Khatun had renovated and further develop the construction. Further renovations were followed in the 18th century. During the reign of Fath Ali Shah Kadscharenherrschers the building was extended to some sections, 1958 renewed the dome.

The mausoleum stands out with a clever mirror works. Countless finely crafted tiles covering the dome over the shrine. The interior decorating glass pieces that are mixed with multi-colored tiles.
