Sibling Rivalry (film)

Sibling Rivalry ( Sibling Rivalry ) is an American comedy film directed by Carl Reiner from 1990.

Action

The married Marjorie Turner is frustrated. Her younger sister Jeanine deemed not determined, their continued for eight years of marriage to Harry, a physician who provides tension between Marjorie and the rest of Harry's family.

Marjorie spends passionate hours with an unknown man, who, as it turns out later, her brother Charles Jr., who wants to visit his family in a hotel room. Charles Jr. dies during lovemaking. Marjorie loses her wallet in the hotel, which is found from the Salesman Nicholas Meany. He thinks he is responsible for the death. Jeanine falls in love with the brother of Nicholas, Captain Wilbur Meany, who wants to be chief of police.

The Turner family learns of the affair. Nicholas turns to the police, but later released. Wilbur Meany was promoted to chief of police. Marjorie writes about the events of a book.

Marjorie and Harry live temporarily separated, Harry calls Marjorie of his car and asks for a meeting. When she agrees, she sees Harry right in front of her house. He has read the book and realized that he and his family were not innocent because it has come to infidelity and other complications, as he has paid more attention to his career and has heard too much on his parents and sister, as to take care of his wife. Marjorie and Harry are reconciled.

Reviews

Roger Ebert described the comedy in the Chicago Sun - Times on 26 October 1990 as " lifeless " and " mechanical". You would " energy " and the right " timing" are missing. Ebert criticized the government and praised the portrayal of Jami Gertz.

Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post of 26 October 1990, that the knowledge of a few scenes would be enough to know the whole movie. He criticized the direction of Carl Reiner and praised the representations of Sam Elliott and Bill Pullman.
