Geography

Sibratsgfäll is located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the district of Bregenz south of Lake Constance at an altitude of 929 meters. 46.0 % of the area is forested, 34.2 % of the area is mountainous (Alps). The community is located directly on the border with Germany. Sibratsgfäll is a member of the German - Austrian joint project Nagelfluhkette National Park. There are no other local villages in Sibratsgfäll.

Neighboring communities

The community Sibratsgfäll adjacent to two Austrian and two German communities. These are in the Austrian district of Bregenz and the communities Hittisau Egg and lying in the district of Bavaria Upper Allgäu communities Balderschwang and Oberstdorf.

History

The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian state of Vorarlberg Sibratsgfäll heard since the foundation in 1861. The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

The coat of arms was created in 1969 after a design by the artist and Schrunser heraldist Konrad Honold.

Economy and infrastructure

At the site there were in 2003 10 companies in the industrial sector with 32 employees. Taxable wage -employed, there were 167 tourism and tourism are major industries of the place. Sibratsgfäll has a drag lift for winter tourism (with attached baby - lift). In the tourism year 2001/2002 there were a total of 24.945 overnight stays. At the site there are (as of January 2003) 22 students. In Sibratsgfäll there is a kindergarten and a primary school. The main school is operated together with the communities and Hittisau Riefensberg.
