Siegessäule (magazine)

The Victory Column is a published since April 1984 magazine from Berlin. The Victory Column appeared in the first years only in West Berlin and led initially subtitled Berlin's monthly magazine for gay men.

Foundation

The Victory Column was established at the meeting Berlin's gay groups in the premises of the bookstore Prince Valiant in the Buelowstrasse to life, the founding meeting of the Journal found a short time later in the premises of SchwuZ in Chelmno road instead. The first edition cost you 1 DM eV was published by the Friends of the Victory Column. The publication has rendered outstanding services to the early information about the then-new disease AIDS.

History

The editorial board members and employees came in the 1980s from different gay relationships: the squatters Tuntenhauses ( Bülowstr. 55), gay students, politicians, living artists, booksellers and hobby railroaders share editorial work, printing and distribution. The Victory Column was published until 2012 in Berlin Jackwerth Verlag, since at Special Media SDL and has an extensive gay and lesbian events calendar, as well as an online edition.

Since 2000 every six months and the free gay and lesbian business directory Victory Column compass in the scene and internal scene near vendors appear to be listed. The circumference of the compass widened during the first 11 issues of 84 to 160 pages.

Lolek and Bolek

In the May 2006 issue of the Victory Column mobilized to Parada Równości in Warsaw, pointing the cartoon characters Lolek and Bolek in adapted form: as an activist for homosexuality on their cover with the slogan "Poland Now - Now Poland ", which from a marketing campaign of the Polish economy was adopted. In Poland, the cover caused a great sensation.
