Sigsbee Park

Sigsbee Park, also known as Dredgers Key, is an island of the Florida Keys, the administratively to the city of Key West, Florida is owned and serves as a residential area. At the 2000 census, a permanent population has been established by 1479. The exact area of the island is 1,194,285 m² 8,848 m² inland waters.

History and current development

The island was filled up in the 1940s after the construction of the start and runways for seaplanes of the former seaplane base at nearby Trumbo Point, Key West. It is connected with the island of Key West on the Sigsbee Road, and, together with the dam, part of the Key West Naval Air Station.

On Sigsbee Park are today little more than 500 residential units. Besides houses, there is a Army & Air Force Exchange Service, a primary school, a Child Development Center, a youth center, a recreation center, an RV parking space, a veterinary clinic, the Sunset Lounge Bar & Grill as well as a marina ( Marina).

Sigsbee Park is part of the Monroe County School District and is powered by the Sigsbee Elementary School and the Horace O'Bryant Middle School on Sigsbee Park and the Key West High School in Key West.
