Model history

It was originally planned to cease production of the 1100 in 1978 and replaced by the Simca Horizon. However, since the production would have been held partially upright with the SUV precursor Rancho and the 1100 City truck anyway, it was decided to revise the 1100 to thereby provide an entry-level model as a replacement of the outdated Simca 1000, because it sells itself progressively worse.
