Simon & Simon is an American television series that was produced 1981-1988 by the U.S. television network CBS, and first aired on 24 November 1981. In Germany the first broadcasts of the series took place from 1986 to 1990 in the ARD. 22 episodes were not shown in Germany.
Action
Developed by Philip DeGuere series is about the disparate brothers Rick (played by Gerald McRaney ) and AJ Simon (played by Jameson Parker), bringing together a detective.
Rick is an experienced street, street-tough Vietnam veteran who pickup trucks in general, and his red Dodge Power Wagon in particular likes and lives in a cabin cruiser behind the house of AJ. He pays less on conventions and rules and goes with the law to more frankly.
His younger brother AJ is the quiet and well-read pole of the unequal pair of brothers who approaches tasks rationally and trying to get it to stick to the rules and laws. He dresses conservatively and expects the things that Rick loves, rather the lower layer. After a black '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible he drives in the early episodes, he subsequently became a red Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
The detective, the two operate in San Diego, forming the skeleton of the series. The series thrives on the antagonisms of the brothers, who approach the common cases in different ways because of their attitude and socialization and so always lead to conflict. Balancing act family relationships, especially with the mother, and similarities that emerge in the course of the series or develop.
Production
In the pilot episodes directed by Corey Allen. Many of the episodes were written by the success screenwriter Michael Piller.
The 156 episodes comprehensive television series had been discontinued in 1982 due to poor ratings almost. After Simon & Simon was placed and broadcast by the hit TV series Magnum, the audience figures increased abruptly.
Music
The theme music in the first season is an instrumental version of Best of Friends, played by The Thrasher Brothers. This includes a montage of still images / Slow. The more often seen later theme music, (from the second season ) was written by Barry De Vorzon and Michael Towers.
Cameos
Two cross-over episodes: In a magnum result, the Simon brothers to steal back an apparently cursed idol picture of Robin Masters estate for their clients and provide to their original location; here they come with Magnum, Rick and TC in a conflict. The story was continued in a Simon & Simon episode, with Magnum and Higgins as guest characters ( ran in the U.S. in the first showing immediately after Magnum sequence).
Furthermore, there was also an appearance by AJ Simon in a series of computer kids, were a young detective in the gang along with Simon briefly overwhelmed by the criminals and locked up in a storage room. And these kids are to be seen in a " Simon & Simon " episode in supporting roles, which was sent in the first showing a day later.
DVD releases
Currently, only the first two seasons have been released on DVD.
Succession works
The television film Simon & Simon: In trouble again, based on the series, was first broadcast on 23 February 1995 and plays a few years after the series. AJ Simon has now married and works as a lawyer in Seattle. As a stopover to visit him, his brother Rick, he makes during the delivery of a yacht, it will be stolen - with the mother Cecilia Simon on board.
