Gerald McRaney
Gerald McRaney ( born August 19, 1947 in Collins, Mississippi ) is an American actor Scots- Indian descent. He starred in over 80 television and film productions and is a frequent guest star on television series.
Life
At the age of 14 years, a knee injury prevented him from taking a career in American football - his great passion - pursue, so he looked around for other activities. He was involved from now on in acting class at his junior high school. A later studied acting at the University of Mississippi, he broke off.
In 1967, following his marriage to Beverly Root, he was hired as an assistant stage manager at a theater in New Orleans. In addition, he worked initially at an oil field in Louisiana to supplement his low income something before he was finally allowed to present on the stage of the theater. After that, he managed to snag a few rolls of film, so that he was seen in 1969 in movies.
In 1971, after his divorce from his wife, Gerald McRaney moved to Los Angeles to continue working there on his acting career. It was followed by numerous supporting roles in television series. With Gunsmoke he finally made a breakthrough. From 1981 to 1989, he starred alongside Jameson Parker starred in the series Simon & Simon, which helped him to nationwide prominence.
From 1989 to 1993 he played the title role in the comedy series Major Dad from 1996 to 1998, the role of Russell Greene in the television series Touched by an Angel ( Touched by an Angel). He took the role as a father in the television series Promised Land ( Promised Land ) 1996-1999 again. In the Western series Deadwood (2005-2006) McRaney portrayed the American businessman and multi-millionaire George Hearst. Its been last roles were those of Johnston Greene in the science fiction series Jericho - The stop (2006-2007) and an ongoing role in the series Women's Murder Club.
With his third wife, actress Delta Burke, whom he married on May 28, 1989, he lives quietly on a farm in Mississippi.
In 1992 he accompanied George HW Bush on his campaign for re-election as President of the United States of America.
