Simone Antonio Saint-Bon

Simone Pacoret de Saint Bon ( born March 20, 1828 in Chambéry, Savoy, † November 25, 1892 in Rome ) was an Italian admiral and Navy Minister.

Military career

With 14 years Pacoret de Saint Bon in 1842 joined as a cadet in the Navy.

In 1866 he fought under the command of Admiral Carlo di Persano Pellion at the Battle of Lissa and his bravery was promoted due to Rear Admiral. Throughout his life politically active, de Saint Bon in 1873 reached the peak of this part of his career with his appointment as Secretary of the Navy.

As such, he suggested that instead of the previous warships to build battleships of that time unheard of size, and could also enforce the power of his office.

When the Consorteria, the party of Cavour Camillo Benso of 1876, majority lost, De Saint Bon resigned with almost all party colleagues. As a member of the opposition, he was a staunch opponent of his successor in office, Benedetto Brin and Ferdinando Acton.

Later Pacoret de Saint Bon was promoted to Vice Admiral and appointed Chief of the Navy Department in Naples. With effect from February 15, 1891 de Saint Bon was re-appointed Minister of the Navy in the government Di Rudinì and held this office until May 10, 1892 held that he took in the first Giolitti Government on 15 May 1892. He died at the age of 64 years on 25 November of the same year.

In January 1889 De Saint Bon was appointed Senatore del Regno.
