Simone Koch

Simone Koch, married Simone beak, (born 25 October 1969 in Dresden) is a former German figure skater.

Biography

Simone Koch learned her first triple jump at Inge Burg Walter. Later she trained with Ingrid Lehmann and Heidemarie Steiner Walther in Berlin.

Koch was in 1983 with 14 years for the DDR World Champion Junior. In 1984 she was subject at the Junior World Championships another DDR - runner: Karin Hendschke. In the following years was Simone Koch always direct competitor of Katarina Witt. Koch in 1984 and 1988 DDR runner-up behind each Katarina Witt. 1989 Simone Koch was Mitfavoritin for the European title. However, they could not prevail in the GDR championships against Evelyn Grossmann and Simone Lang, was only third parties and thus failed to qualify for the European Championship.

She is married to Günter beak and is now called Simone beak, the couple has three children. It started again at German Championships 1992 in Unna and 1993 in Mannheim again for the SC Berlin, but could not qualify for international championships themselves.
