Sir Abu Nu’ayr

Sir Abu Nu'ayr (Arabic أبو صير نعير, DMG Abū Nu ʿ air SIR ) is an island in the eastern Persian Gulf. It belongs to the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. It lies about 80 km north of Abu Dhabi and about 104 km south-east of Abu Musa. The round island has a diameter of 4 km and is approximately 12.5 km ².

Sir Abu Nu'ayr is the upper end of Salzdiapirs from the Cambrian. The layers of rock in the road frequently occurring of Hormuz salt made his way through overlying rocks and verschmischte with these. For this reason, evaporites, Igneous and containing quartz sandstone are typical of the surface of the island.

Near the island there are several major oil fields of Iran and the United Arab Emirates, including Fateh. The island itself is one of the oil and gas company Crescent Petroleum.

Most southern part of the island there is a small port and an airfield.
