Skikda Province

The Skikda (Arabic ولاية سكيكدة, DMG Wilāyat Sukaikida ) Province is a province ( wilaya ) in north-eastern Algeria.

The province is located on the Mediterranean coast near the Tunisian border, it includes the city of Skikda, together with their surrounding countryside and has an area of ​​4,197 km2.

Around 877,000 people ( 2006 estimate ) live in the province, the population density is thus approximately 209 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The economy of the province is dominated by the port and the petrochemical industry of the city of Skikda, the beaches are also an attraction for domestic tourists. In the province of agricultural production for export plays a major role. All types of fruits, vegetables and wheat are mentioned. In the mountains east of Skikda are rich marble deposits which are mined for domestic needs and for export. The easy access of the city to Constantine and Annaba promotes the growth of the region.
