Skřivany

Skřivany ( German Skriwan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers north of Nový Bydžov and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Skřivany is located on the right side of the mouth of the Javorka in the Cidlina on the East Bohemian panel. West of the town runs the railway line Velky Osek - Trutnov.

Neighboring towns are Červeněves and Stihňov in the north, and Podoliby Chmelovice in the northeast, Králíky in the east, in the southeast Prasek, Sloupno and Nový Bydžov in the south, Stara Skřeněř and Stary Bydžov the southwest, Křičov in the west and Smidarská Lhota in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Skřivany was in 1360 as the seat of Vladiken of Křivany. According to historian Josef Vítězslav Šimák Skřivany should be identical to the Chronica Boemorum mentioned bridge pontes Criuci at the Cidlina. 1562 acquired by the Counts of Sommerfeld rule. Of them acquired in 1628 Albrecht of Wallenstein, the festivals and the associated village. Around 1720 the reconstruction of the festivities took place at a baroque castle and 1720 the chapel of the Assumption was dedicated. This was later made as a chapel of the Lord's family publicly available and 1842 hl. Dedicated to Anna. At the beginning of the 19th century belonged to the dominion of the Ledvinka family. Between 1822 and 1829 worked František Ladislav Čelakovský as educators of children of Maximilian Ledvinka of Adlerstein on Skřivany.

After the abolition of patrimonial Skřivany formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Nový Bydžov. Gustav Ledvinka was in 1862 built a sugar factory instead of the store next to the castle. Between 1867 and 1868 he was the baroque castle in neo-Gothic Windsor style remodel. The sugar refinery set during the Second World War, and their production was converted to a factory for military technology. 1948 it was nationalized. Since 1961, the community is part of the Skřivany Okres Hradec Králové. 1977 took place in the factory, the engineering company Strojobal the production. Between 1989 and 1990 Skřivany was incorporated to Nový Bydžov.
