Slipmat

As slipmat (English:, slip mat ') is a circular mat of felt or neoprene is called that allows scratching and beat matching of vinyl records. The disk with a standard diameter of 30 cm is provided in the center with a hole and can easily be exchanged with the usually made of rubber record mat. The slipmat reduces the friction of a resting record on the rotating turntable. Thus, the jerky movement of the plate is facilitated by hand and various hip- hop music techniques such as scratching, beat juggling or backspin allows only. Without the mat, the records would be scratched. Mostly, in addition, a circular paper blank (baking paper or Vinylhülleninlet ) is placed between slipmat and platter to minimize friction so far that you can " swirl " the plate against the direction of rotation of the turntable. Thus, the effect of the slipmat is amplified by a multiple.
