SMS Frauenlob (1855)

SMS Frauenlobstraße was a zweimastiger war schooner of the Prussian Navy.

The shipwright Klawitter and Luebke designed the Frauenlobstraße and her sister ship Hela modeled after the Dutch schooner Schorpioon.

The construction of this ship was financed by "voluntary donations German women " in the revolutionary year of 1848, which is why it got the name Frauenlobstraße. Originally the names were Mrs. administration and provided for sister ship to the primary voters, to honor the donors.

At the turn of 1859/1860 broke a small Prussian squadron, consisting of SMS Frauenlobstraße, SMS Thetis and SMS Arcona from Rio de Janeiro to Asia trip to China, Japan and Siam, where the ships in the late summer of 1860 arrived ( Prussian East Asia Expedition ). On September 2, 1860, Yokohama squadron was caught in a typhoon, in which the Frauenlobstraße sank with its entire crew of five officers and 42 men.

The Imperial Navy honored the ship, by a small cruiser in turn called SMS 1902 Frauenlobstraße.
