SNCF Class BB 75000

The Prima DE 33 B AC is a diesel engine with diesel-electric drive from the Prima family of the manufacturer Alstom. Currently, 299 of these locomotives as Class BB 75000 for the French National Railways (SNCF) in operation or under construction. They come since 2008 mainly in freight transport used.

History

Beginning of the 21st century, the need for new diesel locomotives from SNCF was more urgent. The existing fleet consisted of more than 30 years old locomotives of the series BB 67200, BB 67300, BB 67400, A1AA1A 68000th Then a new mainline diesel locomotive was decided to obtain. The tender for a 1800 kW locomotive began in 2001. Alstom and Siemens in November 2002 formed a consortium that in 2003 the contract was awarded as. The contract, over 500 vehicles, of which 400 are on firm order was signed on 27 February 2004. This is the largest order of Streckendieselloks in Europe since the 1970s, and the average age of the freight locomotives should drop to 10 to 15 years. It will be shipped 3 to 4 locomotives per month, the last will probably go into operation in 2015. The first locomotives were completed in the spring of 2006 and took test drives in Wegberg -Wildenrath.

On 27 March 2007, the series gets its approval for France by the Etablissement Public de sécurité ferroviaire (comparable to the Federal Railway Authority ), the first 25 locomotives will be decreased by the SNCF. Meanwhile, the SNCF has announced in August 2007, an order for a series of 45 (with the option of a further 35 ) locomotives with a tractive effort of at least 2000 kW, as the 1600 kW Alstom Prima DE 33 B AC apparently not enough places. These locomotives are to be used in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In January 2012, were more stringent emission standards in Karft. Therefore, the locos have to use BB 75133 other engines, as well as the exhaust system was changed.

Because of the decline in freight traffic 18 locomotives were repainted in gray and since then are the leasing company Akiem available. Some others were leased to VFLI. The colors of SNCF Infra ( comparable to the DB railway construction group) carry 20 locomotives. All other carry the painting of SNCF Fret. The contract value is to be € 1 billion.

Technology

The ordered locomotives are based largely on the outside of the Alstom Prima electric locomotives related family. From these originate frames, locomotive body, cabs, bogies, propulsion system and the pneumatic brakes. Siemens Transportation Systems components engine system, cooling, battery and hydraulics, which with those of Siemens ER 20 BU are largely identical come. For capacity reasons, the boxes of 130 locomotives at Siemens in Munich will be built; However, the final assembly will take place at the Alstom factory in Belfort in France, where the remaining locomotives arise.

183 locomotives ( 150 of the original order of 400 and 33 in December 2006, re-ordered ) be equipped for use in Germany, the other for use in France.

Operation

The locomotives are used mainly for freight transport in France for use. Akiem locomotives are less commonly used in Germany.

Model

The locomotive was emulated by Os.Kar in 1:87.
