Soblahov

Soblahov ( Soblahof German, Hungarian Cobolyfalu - to 1907 Szoblahó ) is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 2196 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trenčín, a circle of the parent district of Trenčín Region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Považské podolie (about Waag Valley landscape ) in the narrow valley of the brook Dolinový creek. East of Soblahov rises the mountain Strážovské hills. The place is seven kilometers away from Trenčín.

History

Soblahov was first mentioned in 1332 as Sabula writing and the Trenčín castle was under tribute. 1622 expelled from Moravia Anabaptists came to the place and founded a Hutterite farm.
