Société par actions simplifiée

Société par actions simplifiée (SAS ) is French and means Aktiengesellschaft in simplified form.

The S.A.S. has been since 2001, when the formal requirements have been tightened establishing an ordinary public limited company under French law, an interesting alternative for foreign companies wishing to operate a subsidiary in France. Was introduced S.A.S. in 1994, by being codified in Articles L227 - 1 to L227 -19 of the Code de commerce ( French Commercial Code). More flexible was the S.A.S. by the Law of 15 May 2001.

The main advantage of a S.A.S. is that particularly in terms of statutes law only a few prerequisites are required, so that it can be applied very flexibly. Furthermore, the Company is not subject to strict disclosure and transparency requirements as conventional corporations. However, they must also not be listed on the stock exchange.

Known Enterprises by this legal form are the EADS subsidiaries Airbus and Eurocopter Group and the mountain sports equipment Petzl.
