Sofapaka FC

The Sofapaka Football Club or short Sofapaka FC is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. Play their home games, the club from the Nyayo National Stadium. The club is also known as Batoto ba Mungu ( Kiswahili for the children of God ).

History

The original club comes from the MAOS Ministry, was founded in 2002 and participated in church championships in football. In 2004, Elly Mboni Kalekwa took over the club, called him into Sofapaka FC and started the game operating in the Nationwide League, the second Kenyan league. 2007 Sofapaka won the FKL Cup, the Kenyan Cup, although he was still playing in the second division and this season the rise behind the Bandari FC missed. Only in 2008 promotion to the highest Kenyan league. This season they also played its first match at the CAF Confederation Cup, where teams from the countries of Central African Republic, Chad, Kenya, Rwanda and Sierra Leone were excluded from the competition because of their financial situation. In the following season the team finished the league with the first place in the table, although it had previously risen only. Through the first championship took part for the first time in the CAF Champions League, where they eliminated in the first round against one of the Egyptian representative Ismaily SC. Sofapaka also won the Kenyan Supercup, in the final to beat the AFC Leopards 1-0.

2010 succeeded the second Cup victory, with a 2-0 final win against second division side West Kenya Sugar.
