Sološnica

Sološnica ( German Breitenbrunn, Hungarian Széleskút ) is a municipality in Okres Malacky within the Bratislavský kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

The place is located in the Záhorská nížina ( Zahorie lowlands ) on the west slope of the Little Carpathians in the landscape Zahorie ( German Marchauen ) by the stream Sološnický creek. The mountain Vápenná ( 752 m nm) rises due east of the community. It is 16 kilometers from Malacky and 53 kilometers from Bratislava.

In the Small Carpathians, there is the nature reserve Roštún within the nature reserve Small Carpathians, among other things, also includes the small cave Haviareň.

History

Sološnica was first mentioned in 1367 as Zeleskut and Praturnprunn writing and belonged to the Earl of St. Georgen and Bösing, later the estate of Castle bladder stone. Since the 17th century it was owned by the Palffy family. In the 18th century there were in the church, a paper factory.

In 1857 there was a fire disaster in which 22 people were killed and 173 homes and outbuildings were destroyed.

Until 1918, the place was in the county Pressburg in the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia.
