Šoporňa
Šoporňa (Hungarian Sopornya ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 4139 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which lies to the Okres Galanta, a part of the Trnavský kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowlands during Kráľová Reservoir ( Vodná nádrž Kráľová ), flows through the Waag, between the cities of Sered (9 km) and Šaľa (13 km), about half way between Trnava and Nitra ( R1 expressway ).
The municipality also includes the south to settlement Štrkovec.
History
The community was in 1251 for the first time mentioned as Supruni.
In the village there is a church dating from 1770 and a classical chapel of St. Anne from 1750.
