Sos del Rey Católico

The place Sos del Rey Católico is in the northwest of the province of Zaragoza in the Autonomous Region of Aragón in Spain in the comarca of Cinco Villas ( five towns ). The municipality had 635 inhabitants on 1 January 2013. At Sos belong the localities Barués, Campo Real, Mamillas and Sofuentes.

History

The site may have been inhabited since the Roman era. He stood a short time under Moorish rule, but was connected in 1044 by Ramiro I. the Kingdom of Aragon. In 1452 the Infante Ferdinand, the later King Ferdinand the Catholic was born, who gave the place its nickname. 1711 Sos became the capital of the comarca of Cinco Villas. In 1968 the insinuation the village under monument protection as Conjunto histórico - artístico. The place was the scene of the 1985 film La vaquilla
