Spring View is the county seat of Keya Paha County in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

According to the census of 2000 Springview has 244 inhabitants, of whom 132 women and 112 men.

Location

Spring View is located in the north of Nebraska, about 20 kilometers south of the border with South Dakota. The place is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 with the Nebraska State Route 12, about 20 kilometers south runs the Niobrara River.

History

Springview, which was named in the local area for a source was created shortly after it was decided on November 4, 1884 that the parts of Brown County, the north of the Niobrara River were, to a new County - the Keya Paha County - should include. On 24 March 1885, the site was chosen because of its central location for the county seat. In July of the same year the town received a post office and a courthouse was completed in 1886. Today's weekly Springview Herald has its roots in the Keya Paha Press was founded in 1885. Since a connection to the railway network had significant influence on the development of places created in 1909 plans, the cities of Valentine, Springview, Jamison and Naper to combine, but they were not implemented. The Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad built its network around 30 kilometers south of the town.

The former school house in 1913, founded and in 1964 a new building decorated high school, now houses the Keya Paha County Historical Museum. 1914, the simple wooden construction of the court house was replaced by a more modern building, which still serves as a courthouse.
