History

In 1969, the municipality Stainztal through the merger of five independent municipalities Count bei Stainz, Graggerer, Neudorf bei Stainz, Mettersdorf and Wetzel village in western Styria. The original name of the community Wetzel village was changed on June 1, 1951 in Wetzel village in West Styria and was amended by the municipality merger, now as a place name, with effect from 1 February 1975 in Wetzel village in western Styria. The name of the village community Graf changed on June 1, 1951 in Count bei Stainz and the community name Neudorf March 1, 1949 in Neudorf bei Stainz.

Because of its origins, the community Stainztal has no community center and is not a separate parish. Their territory is located in the parishes of St. Joseph, Preding, Groß St. Florian and Stainz. Also the areas of postal delivery and local clubs are categorized according to these parish boundaries. As early as the founding of the church there have been proposals to place a separate municipality divide the area of Stainztal by the parish boundaries to the neighboring communities. These proposals have been raised again in the context of discussions about the community structure reform of 2012.

As " Stainztal " also the valley of Stainzbaches at Luttenberg ( Ljutomer ) in the Pomurska in Slovenia is referred to in older literature. This valley has nothing to do with the church described here. The Stainzbach this relationship is the Ščavnica.
