Stará Myjava

Stara Myjava ( Altmiawa German, Hungarian Ómiava ) is a municipality in western Slovakia.

Location and General Description

The first historical mention of Stara Myjava goes back to the year 1583.

The municipality is located in the hill country between the Little Carpathians in the south and the White Carpathians in the north. Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located about 30 kilometers east of the community, Myjava about 3 kilometers to the west, Senica about 20 kilometers to the west.

The municipality was established on April 1, 1955 as a spin of several settlements from the city Myjava.
