Staryi Chortoryisk

Stary Tschortoryjsk (Ukrainian Старий Чорторийськ; Russian Старый Чарторийск / Stary Tschartorisk, Polish Czartorysk ) is a village in north- western Ukraine. It lies on the banks of the Styx in the Volyn oblast.

The present village of Stary Tschortoryjsk was re-established as a municipality until 1900, the old Czartorysk was dissolved administratively at the latest after the Polish uprising of 1830 and subject to the surrounding communities. At the point already an ancient settlement which was the seat of Algirdas was mentioned. Derived from even the Polish-Lithuanian noble Czartoryski takes its name. The place in Germany is best known for the Battle of Czartorysk on 13 November 1915. She was described in detail in Harry Kessler in the 5th diary.

Until 1918/21 the place belongs to the Russian Empire lay in the government of Volhynia, then he fell to Poland and came to the Province of Volhynia in the powiat Luck. After the outbreak of the Second World War, the Soviet Union occupied the area, but after the German invasion of the Soviet Union, the place came from 1941 to 1944 under German rule, but was after the war annexed by the Soviet Union, since 1991 Stary Tschortoryjsk is a part of today's Ukraine.
