Stefano Bollani

Stefano Bollani ( born December 5, 1972 in Milan ) is an Italian jazz pianist.

Life and work

Bollani completed his studies at the Conservatory of Florence in 1993 and turned after a short interlude in pop music to jazz. He has worked with his mentor Enrico Rava particular, but also in the sequence with musicians like Gato Barbieri, Pat Metheny, Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Michel Portal, Paolo Fresu, Richard Galliano and Han Bennink. Bollani has released several albums under his own name, including " Smat Smat " (2003, Label Bleu ) and more recently in the quintet " I Visionari " (2005, Label Bleu ), "Piano Solo" (ECM 2006), " The third man " ( ECM 2007 Enrico Rava with ) and " BollaniCarioca " (2007, with interpretations of Brazilian music ). In 2009, he took with his trio Stone in the Water on (ECM 2080 ). 2011 appeared the duo album with Chick Corea rehearsed Orvieto; O que será followed in 2013 in a duo with Hamilton de Holanda (ECM 2332 ).

In 1998 he was awarded the prize of jazz magazine " Musica Jazz" best new talent. 2000 he received the Django d' Or ( Italy) as " Established Musicians ". In 2009 he was awarded the Paul Acket Award. His well-rehearsed with the NDR Big Band Big Band album! 2013 was awarded the ECHO Jazz.

He was married to singer Petra Magoni. As an author, he published " La sindrome di Brontolo " (2006) and " L' America di Renato Carosone " (2004)
