Geography
Geographical location
Steinach is located in the valley of the Kinzig Baden in the Black Forest between 200 and 600 meters.
Neighboring communities
The municipality is bordered to the north by the town of Biberach, Gengenbach, on the east by the city Haslach, to the south and to the west by Hofstetten Schuttertal.

History
Steinach was first mentioned in 1139 in a document by Pope Innocent II, in which the Pope to the monastery Gengenbach confirms the possession of Steinach. 1280 gets the place under the rule of the Lords of Geroldseck. Since 1976, Lay-Saint -Christoph is in Lorraine twin town of Steinach. In addition, Steinach maintains friendly relations with the eponymous town of Steinach in Thuringia. The district Welschensteinach maintains a partnership with the town of Truchtersheim in Alsace.

Steinach is located on the Great Hansjakobweg, a walking trail, which takes in many sights.

Structures
The most important historical building is the parish church of Steinach Holy Cross ( patrocinium September 14 ).
