Steven Moffat

Steven Moffat ( born 1961 in Paisley, Scotland ) is a British screenwriter who wrote for TV series from the late 1980s screenplays. He is married to television producer Sue Vertue.

Biography

He originally worked as a teacher. His debut as a screenwriter was the series Press Gang (1989 ), which he created together with his father, Bill Moffat. He also wrote for television series and was author of two sitcoms ( Chalk and Joking Apart). In 2000, he created the sitcom Coupling with his wife as a producer. The series was very successful and ran until 2004. Four seasons were produced with a total of 28 episodes. He also wrote the never broadcast pilot for the American version of the series, which was set after only four episodes.

2005 Moffat wrote for the Doctor Who series the two-parter The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances, which won the Hugo Award. For the second season in 2006 he wrote the episode The Girl in the Fireplace, for the third season in 2007, the result of failure to blink and for the fourth season in May 2008, the two-parter Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead. At the same time gave the BBC announced that Russell T Davies Moffat will take over as producer of Doctor Who for the fifth season in 2010.

Moffat also wrote the 2007 also broadcast on the BBC TV mini-series Jekyll, a modern version of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
