Stone (Band)

Stone was a Finnish thrash metal band from Kerava, which was founded in 1985 and broke up again in 1991. Since then the band in the years 2000, 2008 and 2013, is still occurred a few times again.

History

Before the foundation of the band Stone bassist and singer and guitarist Roope Latvala, Janne Joutsenniemi had played several years with a rotating cast, the band, however, was not founded until after the accession of guitarist Jiri Jalkanen and drummer Pekka Kasari. Together they developed a few songs and played a few gigs. In early 1987, the Finnish rock magazine Rumba became aware of the band. Through good live reviews, and other articles and interviews of the band the band's popularity grew further. After the band had released several demos, which were produced by Mikko Karmila, they reached an agreement with Mega Mania Records.

Their first single called Real Delusion / The Day of Death was released in November 1987, which followed the self-titled debut album in 1988. Was followed by several tours. The next album called No Anaesthesia! appeared in 1989. During the tours that followed after the release, the band had guitarist Jiri Jalkanen after the show on March 15, 1990 leaving in Tavastia Club in Helsinki. Jalkanen was replaced by Markku Niiranen, which previously played at Airdash. The third album Colours was released in late 1990. The last album, Emotional Playground was released in 1991. In the summer of the same year, the band that is going to separate the band for a small, last tour announced. In September 1991, the band broke up. During the tour some concerts were recorded and released in 1992 as a live album Free. Roope Latvala founded with his brother, the band Latvala Bros and took an album. Thereafter, Roope Latvala joined the band for their only album dementia. He then joined Waltari at and a few years later Sinergy. He currently plays for Children of Bodom. Janne Joutsenniemi founded the band Suburban Tribe. Pekka Kasari joined Amorphis and played in the band Road Crew. Markku Niiranen joined Corporal Punishment in, but there is currently no longer active. Jiri Jalkanen working on a country music project. In summer 2000, the band teamed up again for some festivals, but dissolved in the same year again. In 2003, remastered versions of their albums have been released. In 2008, the band at the Sauna Open Air was to be seen live.

Style

Stone was one of the most important bands of the Finnish thrash metal scene. Initially the band played more aggressive, fast Thrash Metal, which was designed more to complexity in later publications.
