Stročín

Stročín (Hungarian Szorocsány - to 1902 Szorocsin - older even Sztrocsin ) is a municipality in the district Svidník in the north eastern Slovakia.

The community Stročín on the left bank of the upper Ondava is in the range of Ondauer mountain country ( Ondavská highlands ) as part of the Low Beskids. The district capital Svidník bordered to the north by the municipality Stročíns, the city Stropkov is eight kilometers away. The highest elevation in the immediate vicinity of the village is the Osy 499 meters above the sea.

The running in the north -south main road through Stročín is the Highway 73 and at the same time the European Route 371 It bundles coming from the north traffic from Duklapass ( border with Poland) to Prešov and Košice

Roman Catholic Church in Stročín

The population increased in recent years (1991: 414 inhabitants; 2001: 476 inhabitants), which is attributable, according to statistics, among others, to the increased settlement of Roma families in the 1990s. The population consists Stročíns 89% of Slovaks, 8% of the inhabitants are Roma. 66 % of the population reported as Greek Catholic denomination, about 77 % profess the Roman Catholic Church.
