Suchdol nad Lužnicí

Suchdol nad Lužnicí ( German search Thal, also Suchental ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers south-east of Trebon and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec.

Geography

Suchdol nad Lužnicí is located on the left bank of the Lainsitz above the confluence of the Dračice ( zip Bach ) in the field of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Třeboňsko in the plane of the Trebon Basin. In the vicinity of the city there are several fish ponds, including the set in front of the right Lainsitz large pond Tušť. By Suchdol nad Lužnicí the European Route 49 and the railroad from Trebon leads to České Velenice.

Neighboring towns are Benátky and Majdalena in the north, Hamr in the northeast, Klikov, Paříž and Tušť in the east, in the southeast Halámky, Hrdlořezy in the south, Tři Facky in the Southwest, boron and Synochov in the west and Cep in the northwest.

History

First mentioned was the place in the year 1362. Suchdol was part of the rule Wittingau and belonged to the noble family of country rock. Other owners were the Rosenbergs and after its termination, the Schwanberger. After the Battle of White Mountain, whose possessions were confiscated to the Emperor Ferdinand II.
