Sucralfate is an aluminum salt of sucrose sulfate.
Effect
By taking sucralfate formed a protective film of sucralfate -protein complexes that covers the gastric mucosa and a possible Ulcusgrund. Furthermore, sucralfate pepsin and bile acids bind. Indication
Applies sucralfate duodenal or gastric ulcer ( " Stressulcus " ) and their prophylaxis in the treatment of duodenal ulcer. It can also be used for the treatment of reflux oesophagitis.
Interaction
In the foreground a reduced uptake of certain substances is in the stomach and / or binding of the substances in the gastrointestinal tract due to an increase of the pH value. For this reason, it is recommended to follow a period of at least 2 hours between doses of sucralfate and other substances. Interactions occur, for example with: beta-blockers, antibiotics ( such as cephalosporins, and tetracyclines gyrase inhibitors ), L- thyroxine, theophylline, vitamin B12 and digitalis.
